§ 00 — Technical & patent translation · Brooklyn, NY

The translation desk for patents, specs & safety manuals.

English, German, Japanese and Spanish. A glossary built around your own terms, a signed accuracy statement with every delivery, and one flat price per document package — agreed before a single sentence is translated.

EN⇄DE⇄JA⇄ES
  • Your price is fixed per package, in writing, before work begins
  • A term glossary is drafted for you on every job, and it is yours to keep
  • Each file arrives with a signed certificate of accuracy

What lands on our desk

Three kinds of document, four languages, and one price for the whole package — so your filing date is the only thing left to think about.

We work on documents where a single wrong word has consequences: a claim scoped too wide, a tolerance misread on the shop floor, a warning that doesn’t warn. That is the only work we take, and we price it so you know the full cost on day one.

  • Doc type A

    Patent filings

Applications, claim sets, office action responses, priority documents and prior-art references.

from $1,865 See the Filing Package
  • Doc type B

    Engineering specifications

Datasheets, tolerancing notes, test protocols, RFQs and supplier requirement sheets.

from $545 See the Desk Brief
  • Doc type C

    Product safety manuals

Operating and maintenance manuals, warning label sets, quick-start sheets and IFUs.

from $3,940 See the Manual Programme

How we look after a document

We begin with your vocabulary, not ours.

Your engineers already have a word for every part. Our job is to find its exact counterpart in German, Japanese or Spanish, agree it with you once, and then hold to it on every page that follows.

Term base · .tbx / .xlsxa

The glossary is drafted before the first sentence

We pull every recurring term from your source, propose a rendering in each target language with a context line, and send it to your engineer for a nod. Changes are made once, centrally.

Claims · second readerb

Patent claims are read twice, by two linguists

A second linguist checks antecedent basis and makes sure “comprising” never quietly becomes “consisting of” on its way into an Anspruch, a 請求項 or a reivindicación.

InDesign · FrameMaker · XMLc

Your layout comes back the way it left

Manuals return in the file format we received, with signal words — DANGER, WARNUNG, 危険, PELIGRO — and pictograms sitting exactly where your labelling standard expects them.

Signed · dated · per filed

A certificate of accuracy travels with it

Each delivered file carries a signed statement naming the document, the language pair and the date, formatted to sit alongside your filing or a regulator’s request.

Flat-rate document packages

One document, one price, settled before we begin.

Choose the package that matches your file. If it runs longer than the ceiling, we tell you the exact add-on in the same reply — the number you approve is the number on the invoice.

Before you ask

The questions people tend to have on their first file

Can you work from our existing glossary or translation memory?

Gladly — send .tbx, .tmx or a plain spreadsheet. We adopt your approved terms as-is, flag any we think need a second look, and the package price stays the same. It often shortens turnaround.

Is my unpublished application kept confidential?

Yes. We’ll sign your NDA before you send anything. Files are held on encrypted storage, and we delete the working copies 90 days after delivery unless you ask us to keep your term base on file.

What if your Spanish needs to be Mexican, not Castilian?

Tell us the market and we’ll translate for it — Spain or Latin American Spanish, Germany or Swiss German conventions, and Japanese written for a patent examiner or for a factory floor. Each reads differently, and we treat them that way.

How and when do we pay?

We send an invoice once you approve the written quote. Card, Apple Pay, ACH transfer and business check are all welcome; larger Manual Programmes can be split into two payments.

From a working glossary

One term, four languages, agreed once and kept.

This is what an entry in your glossary looks like — the rendering, its grammatical gender, and the sentence it came from, so the next translator never has to guess.

Send it over

Attach the file. We’ll reply with a fixed price, the same day.

Tell us the target language and when you need it in hand. During desk hours — daily, 10am to 6pm — a written quote comes back before we close.

What to include with your first file

  3. Where it’s headedUSPTO, EPO, JPO, OEPM, a notified body, or your own engineering team.
  4. Anything you’d like us to honorAn existing glossary, style sheet or earlier translation.
  5. The date you need it in handWe’ll confirm it’s achievable in the quote, or suggest rush.
